Inner Tube Water Polo
The Inner Tube Water Polo Tournament took place on a sunny April 20th, providing a perfect taste of summer. The tournament featured five teams: Aspen, Ginkgo, Hyperion, Magnolia, and Wisteria. In the first game, Wisteria faced off against Hyperion, showcasing impressive work ethic and teamwork. Wisteria dominated, securing a decisive victory and eliminating Hyperion from the tournament. Game 2 was slated to be Aspen versus Redwood, but Redwood was unable to play. Despite the forfeit, Aspen graciously accepted extra volunteers and players from the Women’s Water Polo team, ensuring everyone had a chance to participate. Farm Games was particularly grateful for the presence of the Women’s Water Polo team, who not only played but also helped referee and provided great company. Game 3 featured Ginkgo versus Magnolia, a competitive match that ended with Magnolia emerging victorious, eliminating Ginkgo from the tournament.
One notable moment occurred in Game 3 when a player with limited swimming experience faced the challenge of inner tube water polo for the first time. Despite their initial struggles, they displayed remarkable bravery. Christina Hicks, a member of the Women’s Water Polo team, jumped into the water to support and accompany the player throughout the game, creating a heartwarming moment.
Game 4 was the semifinals between Wisteria and Aspen, with both teams showing increasing comfort and determination. Originally, Magnolia was also in the running, but they had to withdraw due to a shortage of players. As a result, Game 4 became the championship, extended by two additional periods of play. Wisteria emerged victorious, claiming the tournament’s top spot and the coveted gold Farm Games medals. Aspen secured second place, with Magnolia taking third. The event was a lot of fun under the sun and a refreshing swim. Farm Games would like to thank everyone who participated and extended special gratitude to the Women’s Water Polo team for their invaluable contributions to the success of the event.
